Launch Services Suspended on Barishal Route

Launch services on Barishal 's internal routes were suspended due to inclement weather on Friday morning.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Traffic Inspector Md Kabir said launch services on all the district's internal routes have remained suspended since the morning, reports UNB.

Until further notice, the restriction will remain in place, he said.

Meanwhile, the low-lying areas of Barishal city have been inundated by torrential rains.

Waterlogging has occurred in many areas.

Ainisur Rahman, a senior observer at the Barishal Meteorological Office, said that for the last 24 hours until 9 am on Friday, 156 mm of rainfall was recorded in Barishal and 62 mm of rainfall was recorded from 8 am to 9 am today.

The wind velocity is natural.

He said that there will be rain during the day due to deep low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.

According to the Bangladesh Water Development Board, the water of Kirtankhola River in Barishal is flowing above the danger line.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department today advised the four maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist local warning signal number 4 following formation of a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.
