Haji Salim's Car Has No Valid Papers

The jeep of lawmaker Haji Salim hit Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan’s motorbike being at the center of chaos allegedly has no valid papers.

Bearing registration number Dhaka Metro Gha 11-5736, the vehicle had been playing for almost a decade illegally.

If a vehicle runs without a fitness certificate, the owner is liable to be punished with six months' jail and a fine up to Tk 25,000 or both. The law proves for Tk 10,000 fine for a vehicle that is devoid of tax token.

The validity of tax token and fitness certificates of the SUV jeep expired in September 2010, sources said.

Haji Salim, his son Erfan Salim and staff allegedly used the vehicle stipulating lawmaker’s sticker on its glass to avoid any check and action by the police.
