Key Accused Arrested in Lalmonirhat Mob Killing

Members of Detective branch of police arrested the key accused early Saturday in connection with the brutal killing of Abu Yunus Md Shahidunnabi Jewel.

DMP’s media and public relations department confirmed the matter to the journalists, but they didn’t disclose identity of the arrestee. 

Further information about the arrestee will be revealed later, said the police.

Thus, the police have detained 24 people in the incident so far.

On October 29, at the Burimari Union Parishad premises in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat, Jewel was beaten to death by an angry mob.

The mob then took his body some 300 metres away to the Prothom Bashkol area on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway and set it on fire, fuelled with dried materials, tyres, and petrol.
