Five Buses Torched in Capital in One Hour

At least five buses were torched in the capital in a span of one hour on Thursday.

Unidentified miscreants set fire to buses at Motijheel, Secretariat intersection, Bongshal, Shahbagh, Khilgaon, and in front of the Awami League office on Bangabandhu Avenue.

The incidents took place between 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Control room, confirmed the news.

The fire service officials first received information that fire originated in a bus on Bangabandhu Avenue and soon after they came to know of another such incident in front of Aziz Super Market at Shahbagh, the duty officer said.

A firefighting unit was sent to Secretariat intersection around 2:10pm to douse another bus on fire, he said.

They completely doused buses on fire on Bangabandhu Avenue and Shahbagh while the blaze in other buses was brought under control, he said.

The reason behind the fire and damage caused could not be known immediately.

No casualty was reported so far.
