Bangladesh logged 19 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Monday 8 a.m.
The country's death toll from the virus is now 6,159, according to a press release issued by the Directorate-General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the meantime, 1,767 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country is now 428,965.
The latest day's infection rate was 13.05 % of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 17.05%. The death rate stands at 1.44 %.
Among the latest day's victims, 13 were men and six were women. All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 13 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Rangpur and one each from Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Meanwhile, 13,539 samples were tested in 115 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,515,339 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 1,519 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 346,387 with an 80.75% recovery rate.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,741 of the total deceased were men and 1,418 were women.
791 people have been placed in quarantine in the last 24 hours. Now, 39,414 people are in quarantine across the country, reads the press release.
187 Covid-19 suspected patients were taken into isolation and 251 left in last 24 hours. Now, 12,113 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
The world has entered in the tenth month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 53,144,185 people and close to 1,300,296 people died.
