Fire at Kumargaon Grid Substation Causes Blackout in Sylhet

A large area of the Sylhet division has been hit by a power outage after a blaze erupted at the national grid substation in Kumargaon on Tuesday.

According to official sources at the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), a fire broke out at the 132/33 kV substation about 11:15 a.m., but it was not clear what caused the fire.

Soon after the incident, five Fire Service and Civil Defence units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, sources said.
