140 Police Peacekeepers Leave for Mali UN Mission

The Bangladesh Police Team has left Dhaka to join the UN peacekeeping mission in Mali on a special flight of Bangladesh Biman.   

The 140-member contingent left for Bamako in Mali on Friday night, according to a statement issued by the Police Headquarters on Saturday.

Commander (Police Superintendent) Belal Uddin led 70 members in the seventh rotation of the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU-1) and Commander (Police Superintendent) Muhammad Abdul Wahab led 70 members in the third rotation of the BANFPU-2, he said.

Deputy Inspector General (Welfare) Md Bashir Uddin Ahmed and UN Operations Wing officials were present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport during their departure.

Members of the Bangladesh Police have been serving on the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Bamako since 2013.
