COVID-19: BD Logs 17 More Lives; New Cases 990

Bangladesh logged 17 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Friday 8 a.m.

The country's death toll from the virus is now 7.576, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the meantime, 990 people tested positive for Covid-19. There are now 514,500 cases of novel coronavirus in the country.

The infection rate of the latest day was 8.18 percent of the total samples, although the overall rate was 15.88 percent in the country to date. At 1.47 percent, the death rate stands.

During the same period, 1,197 patients were declared Covid-19 free, raising the total number of recoveries to 458,656 with a recovery rate of 89.15 percent.

Among the latest day's victims, 10 were men and 7 were women. 16 of them died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

Moreover, 12 of them hailed from Dhaka, two each from Chattogram and Khulna and one from Rangpur.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, 12,103 samples have been tested in 180 laboratories across the country. So far, a total of 3,239,701 samples have been tested in the country.

The gender breakdown of the Covid-19 victims shows that 5,764 of the total deceased were men and 1,812 were women.

On March 8 this year, the country's first Covid-19 case was reported and on March 18, the first death from the virus was reported.
