EC Publishes List of 14.65 Lakh New Voters

The Election Commission (EC) has published a draft of the updated voter list of the country.

As per the draft, some 14 lakh 65 thousand 46 new voters have been registered for the year 2019-20.

Of the new voters, some 5 lakh 63 thousand 48 are female while the number of male voters is 9 lakh 1 thousand 983. In addition, there are 14 new voters of third gender.

EC senior secretary Md Alamgir revealed this information at a press conference at the EC office in the city's Agargaon area on Sunday.

''The final list will be published on March 2. This list will be available in each upazila. If any error is found in the list, then it could be revised through application by January 31,'' Md Alamgir said.

The number of total voters in the country stands at 11crore 12 lakh 84 thousand as of 17 January, 2021. Of them, female voter is 5 crore 48 lakh 99 thousand and male voter is 5 crore 63 lakh 84 thousand 513 and voter of third gender is 375, the EC secretary added.
