Low Formed over South Bay of Bengal

A fresh low-pressure area has formed over the Central Bay of Bengal being the first pre-monsoon tropical system. It is the maiden pre-monsoon tropical system of 2021 to have formed over the Bay.

Rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The low pressure is likely to move northeast direction with steady development and its intensity may be affecting Andaman Nicobar in the next 2-3 days.

Moderate to high vertical wind shear with favorable SST conditions pave the way for further steady intensification of this system.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over the Sylhet division and the regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Chandpur, Rajshahi, Jashore & Kushtia and it may continue. Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.
