Railway Starts Selling Half Tickets from Today

Bangladesh Railway has started selling 50 percent tickets of the capacity of all passenger trains from Tuesday due to a surge in covid-19 infection cases in the country in recent days.

The railway's authorities also asked their staff concerned and passengers to follow health regulations during the journey.

The decision was taken on Monday night, hours after the publication of a gazette notification on the same day asking public transport operators to carry 50 percent of their passenger capacity following health guidelines.

The gazette notification, signed by the prime minister's principal secretary,  gave a set of 18 directives amid the increasing cases of COVID-19 infection across Bangladesh, imposing restrictions on all types of political, social, religious, and public gatherings and banned public gathering in highly COVID-19 infected areas.

The decisions would be followed till further notice from the government.
