The local people, including citizens of various countries, engaged and working in UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan, Central African Republic, Mali and Congo spontaneously participated in the Mujib Borsho Marathon from January 10 to March 7.

On the initiative of Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed, Mujib Borsho is being celebrated with due dignity in the UN peacekeeping missions where contingents of the Bangladesh Army are deployed, according to a press release of ISPR.

So far, 3493 people, including 134 foreign nationals and peacekeepers working in the United Nations and 95 locals, have participated in the Mujib Marathon organized to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation in the UN peacekeeping mission area.

Like Bangladesh, the marathon is organized in UN peacekeeping mission areas at different distances (5 km, 10 km, 21.097 km and 12.195 km).

The spontaneous participation of the citizens of different countries in this marathon organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation is an expression of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s identity as a world leader and unparalleled respect for him which is a matter of great pride and honor for each of us as Bangladeshis.
