Storm Kills 6, Launch Drowns with 50 Passengers

A pre-monsoon cyclonic storm took lives of six persons in several places of the country on Sunday evening.

Five people have been killed in Gaibandha and one in Kushtia due to the storm, sources said.

Meanwhile, a Munshiganj bound launch from Narayanganj loaded with 50 passengers capsized in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj.

Many of the passengers reportedly managed to reach the shore.

The authorities concerned started rescue operation which is being interrupted due to the gusty air.
