Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has warned saying unnecessary movement must be stopped amid nationwide strict restrictions, reports media.

The IGP said, "We don't want to see anyone on the streets and outside during curb from tomorrow… Everyone should follow restrictions willingly, rather than under pressure. If the restrictions are not followed, the whole of Bangladesh will have to be taken in isolation."

He made the remarks while launching the "Police Movement Pass" apps during strict restrictions on Tuesday at Rajarbagh Police Lines.

"Police will monitor the lockdown like previous year," the IGP added.

Millions of people left Dhaka last year. This time, people are also leaving Dhaka for the last several days which is not the right thing and morally very unjust acts, he said.

The IGP said that already one lakh people have registered for movement pass within one hour after launching the app.

During the curb, no one will be allowed to come out without movement pass. However, journalists do not need any movement pass, he informed.

Bangladesh is going to a strict restriction from Wednesday to tackle worsening situation of coronavirus.

The government on Monday announced a set of restrictions to be imposed during the nationwide one-week strict lockdown from 14-21 April.
