Covid-19 Deaths Remain Below 100 for 2nd Day

Daily deaths from Covid-19 fell below the 100-mark in Bangladesh for the second consecutive day on Wednesday with the country reporting 95 more lives lost to the virus in the last 24 hours till 8 am.

The country had reported 112 deaths from the novel coronavirus on Monday (20 April)- the highest in a single day since the pandemic hit the country last year. 

According to data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of deaths from the virus in Bangladesh now stands at 10,683.

Meanwhile, the country reported 4,280 new cases in the last 24 hours, with an infection rate of 15.07%, pushing the total caseload in the country to 7,32,060.

In the meantime, 28,408 samples were tested at 335 laboratories across the country.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March that year.
