Hefazat Announces Central Convening Committee, Babunagari Made Convener

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh announced a five-member central convening committee with the dissolved central committee’s ameer Junaid Babunagari and secretary general Nurul Islam Jihadi as the organisation’s convener and member secretary respectively.

Nurul Islam Jihadi announced the convening committee in a video message early Monday, hours after dissolving the central committee by Junaid Babunagari Sunday night, reports media.

Junaid Babunagari’s maternal uncle Muhibullah Babunagari was named the chief adviser of the convening committee. He held the same post in the dissolved central committee.

The two other members of the convening committee are Salah Uddin Nanupuri and Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury.

Hefazat leader Ahsan Ullah said that some new names would be announced as members of the convening committee later on Monday.

Leaders of the organisation said that the five leaders were apparently non-political ones and that they had no direct involvement in any political party.

On Monday night, Junaid Babunagari, in a video statement, announced that the central committee of his organisation was dissolved.
