Around 900 Tons of Oxygen Reserved: Maleque

ealth and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said the country currently requires 70 to 80 tons of oxygen for general and Covid-19 patients. During the peak of the second wave of coronavirus, the maximum demand of oxygen was up to 210 tons.

Presently, the country has a daily oxygen production capacity of 220 to 230 tons.

Neighbouring India is now facing a critical situation due to oxygen shoratge. Around 900 tons of oxygen has now been stored so that the country (Bangladesh) can tackle tough situation at any time, he added.

Zahid Maleque was addressing as the chief guest at a discussion held virtually  on 'Public-private preparation and emergency oxygen management in the face of second wave of Covid-19' organised by Bangladesh Private Medical Association on Thursday.
