Bangladesh Logs 37 More Covid Deaths, Lowest in 40 Days

Bangladesh logged 37  more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in the last 40 days.

On 28 March this year, 35 people were killed by the virus in a single day, and the number of daily fatalities continued to rise.

The total number of Covid-19 deaths reached 11,833 in the country with a fatality rate of 1.54 %, said a media statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Meanwhile, the country's Covid cases rose by another 1,682 infections in a day, taking the total case count to 7,70,842 to date. 

However, the positivity rate rose to 9.89% on Friday, which was 8.44% a day ago.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

India reported 414,188 fresh infections of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 3,915 deaths due to the virus on Friday, according to the Union health ministry dashboard at 8 am. With this, the country's cumulative infections went up to 21,491,598 and the toll was pushed to 234,083.

Covid-19 has claimed 3,271,497 lives worldwide and infected 156,751,627 so far, according to the data provided by Worldometer.
