Police have arrested seven more people in connection with the mayhem that occurred in Brahmanbaria in March.

They were arrested in the last 24 hours after conducting raids in different parts of the district, said the district police in a press release on Sunday morning.

However, the press release did not mention the names of those arrested but said they were activists and supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam.

Currently, the number of arrests stands at 473.

Police said the arrestees were identified through footage from the days of the violence. They will be produced before a court on Sunday noon.

Activists and supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam staged a massive protest in Brahmanbaria from March 26 to 28 against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.

They attacked, vandalised, and set fire to several public and private establishments.

At least 11 people were killed in three days of clashes with law enforcement agencies.

A total of 55 cases have been filed in this connection, cops said adding that 49 cases were filed with Sadar Model Police Station, four in Ashuganj Police Station and two in Sarail Police Station.

The cases were filed accusing 414 people and another 35,000 unnamed ones.
