DMP Bans Carrying of Arms, Gathering around JS

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed restrictions on carrying firearms, explosives and other harmful objects around Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban to ensure smooth functioning of the 13th session (Budget Session of 2021) of the 11th parliament scheduled to begin Wednesday.

The restrictions will come into effect from Tuesday midnight and remain in force till the conclusion of the 13th session (Budget Session of 2021) of the 11th parliament, said a DMP media release signed by DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Monday.

Besides, there will be a restriction on holding any kind of rally, procession and demonstration during the time.

DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam imposed the restrictions under section 28 and 29 of Police Ordinance 1976 to ensure smooth and uninterrupted functioning of the session.

The areas kept within the purview of the restrictions are: Mohakhali crossing of Mymensingh road to Bangla Motor crossing via Old Airport Road, western part of Bangla Motor link road to Hotel Sonargaon road SAARC Fountain, eastern part of Panthapath to Farmgate via Green Road link road, Shyamali crossing of Mirpur road to Dhanmondi 16 (old 27) link road, Rokeya Sarani link road to Bijoy Sarani Parjatan crossing via old 9th division (airplane) crossing, eastern part of Indira road to Manik Mia Avenue’s western part and restricted area of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and all the roads and lanes in the area.
