Covid-19 Infections Rise to 1,887; 34 More Die

Bangladesh on Friday witnessed a surge in Covid-19 infections as 1,887 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours. 

The positivity rate further went up to 10.40% in the meantime, according to The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). 

Meanwhile, 34 more people succumbed to Covid-19 with the fatality rate recorded at 1.58%.

With Friday's figures, the total caseload increased to 8,07,867 and the death toll reached 12,758 in the country.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

India recorded 132,364 cases of the coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide infection tally to 28,574,350, according to the data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW), updated at 8am on Friday. Also, in the same period, 2,713 people succumbed to Covid-19, taking the related death toll to 340,702, the data showed.

So far 3,718,267 people have died globally from Covid-19 and 172,938,652 more were infected till date, according to Worldometer data.
