China is going to send another six lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine to Bangladesh as a gift in the second phase by June 13, said a Chinese official.

Hualong Yan, the minister counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh has disclosed the information through his verified Facebook id, repoprts media.

The information comes at a time when tension is looming between the two countries over the disclosure of vaccine price in Bangladesh.

Foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Friday said that China expressed its annoyance over the matter.

On May 12, China sent five lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine to Bangladesh as a gift in the first phase.

Earlier, Bangladesh had a deal with the Serum Institute of India for 50 lakh doses of vaccine for each month, but only 70 lakh doses in total arrived so far.

Serum stopped providing vaccines when the Indian government imposed an embargo on exporting vaccines causing a sudden crisis of the vaccination program in Bangladesh.
