Fear of the Indian variant has spread in the border districts of Bangladesh. Coronavirus infection has been on the rise across the country since Eid. The infection has increased in a few districts along the Indian border, as in the rest of the country; but added to this is the fear of the Indian variant.

Of the few people already infected with the Indian variant in Bangladesh, eight are residents of border districts. Apart from that variant, the infection rate in general coronavirus is 35.2 percent in Rajshahi, 8.51 percent in Naogaon, 36.36 percent in Satkhira, and 25 percent in Chapainawabganj. The government has kept the district under special consideration as the number of people affected by the Indian variant is high in Chapainawabganj. Some district hospitals in the border areas have more patients than before.

The cabinet has allowed lockdown in seven districts adjoining or adjacent to the Indian border - Naogaon, Satkhira, Jessore, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Natore.

According to the cabinet department, the deputy commissioners will be able to declare a lockdown in their districts if necessary. The lockdown in Chapainawabganj, adjacent to Murshidabad district of India, has been going on for some time. A special lockdown has been announced in the district on June 1, but the lockdown was not announced despite the presence of more corona in other districts. In this regard, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that the issue of mango should be considered before giving lockdown in these districts.

It is to be noted that these border districts are involved in the livelihood of the farmers, their investment in mango production and the trade of the traders. Mango season also involves the demand for mangoes from people across the country. For that reason, those deputy commissioners have given permission to lock down locally with special consideration.

The mango trade in these districts has already suffered due to the lockdown and covid-19 situation. There is a kind of corona fear. In life and livelihood, many people give priority to livelihood and many people give priority to life and refrain from all activities. The impact on the mango trade is not limited to the people of the mango-producing districts; It will also affect the economy of the whole country.  With the government's effective planning, everything could be done in just one table. And such a chaotic situation would not have arisen.

About the marketing and distribution of mango pathology, disease control and research institute (IEDCR) Director Prof. Tahmina Shirin said many families depend on the mango trade. Mangoes have to be traded and hygiene rules have to be followed. It is necessary to ensure the sale of mango from the garden in accordance with the hygiene rules. Mango market should be set up in open space. Online shopping should be encouraged in mango trade. It will involve a few people. As a result, corona infection will be under control to some extent.

The Indian variant of the modified coronavirus is very contagious. This variant is, further said, able to evade the body's immune system by entering cells and making people sick very quickly. The human body usually has some antibodies to fight off any disease. That is why many people see that the corona cannot infect or overwhelm the corona patient even after providing round the clock service. This is due to the strong immunity, but various studies have suggested that the Indian variant may have penetrated the human immune system.

This variant of India, which originates from West Bengal adjacent to Bangladesh, has been blamed for the dire situation in India over the past two months. This variant has changed two to three times in India and become more powerful. The lockdown has been decided to prevent the Indian variant of the corona in the eight districts.

Corona has started to grow again in Bangladesh from March this year. The highest number of infections was detected in 7,462 people in one day on April 9. From then on it started to decrease gradually. At one time, on May 15, the identification came down to 261 in one day. It was the day after Eid-ul-Fitr. This has decreased due to people not coming to give samples during Eid. However, since then the infection has started to increase continuously. Again on May 31the corona cases reached 1,710 in 24 hours. A significant number of these infections have been identified in border districts. That is why lockdown has been decided in these districts.

All variants of the corona mutants (variants) are highly contagious. It has been due to having global connectivity. Bangladesh had air links with different countries of the world. As a result, other dangerous variants have come to this country due to the coming and going of people.

Public health experts say this is due to the negligence and carelessness of the government and travelers. The government mentioned a few countries at the time and said that those coming from these countries would have to stay in the mandatory institutional quarantine for 14 days. It was later announced that quarantine would be required for three days. It was also announced that if anyone wants to quarantine for seven days at the Radisson Hotel next to the airport. Several have escaped from Radisson without quarantine. Due to these reasons, dangerous foreign variants have entered Bangladesh. Professor Tahmina Shirin, director of the Institute of Pathology, Disease Control and Research at the Department of Health, said on May 30 that Indian, South African, UK and Nigerian variants have been found in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, variants of the deadly infectious power have been found in the bodies of 23 people. None of the eight have a history of traveling to India or any other country, meaning they have been infected internally. Seven of the eight are residents of the border district of Chapainawabganj. On the other hand, six of the 23 dangerous variants came from India a few days ago and all of them were in quarantine.

Professor Shirin added that they are trying to find (contact tracing) those who have come in contact with those who have found dangerous variants. There is considerable doubt as to how successful contact tracing will be. Because many people do not want to give accurate information about these things. He likes to hide himself until the situation gets worse.

It may be mentioned that on May 8, two Indian variants were identified in Bangladesh who came from India. One of the six Indian variants found in the body has died. He was returning from India with cancer treatment.
