Vitamin A-plus campaign was launched on Saturday in Bangladesh for children aged six months to 59 months, breaking an impasse in the government's vaccination program created by the coronavirus outbreak.

The immediate campaign will not be held at any mobile vaccination centers this year, unlike previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccination workers and guardians must adhere to social distance and other health requirements.

The campaign will run for two weeks, from 9 am to 4 pm daily.

Blue capsules are given to children aged six to twelve months, whereas red capsules are given to children aged one to five years.

The campaign is being conducted at EPI centers, permanent healthcare centers, community clinics and public healthcare centers.

The campaign is being carried out by the National Nutrition Services (NSS), which is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The decision was made during a meeting of the Steering Committee for Nutrition Implementation on May 23.
