In an effort to stop the spread
of coronavirus or Covid-19 infection, Rajshahi city has been put under lockdown
for the next week.
The lockdown began at 5:00 pm on
Friday, June 11 and will last until June 17 at midnight.
Due to a significant increase in
both deaths and infections from the virus, the local government took drastic
steps, including closing stores and transit services.
In the previous few days, a large
number of people have died of Covid-19 in Rajshahi and the adjacent districts.
Law enforcement officers have
been dispatched throughout the city to ensure that the lockdown is strictly
enforced.
Meanwhile, a week-long rigorous
lockdown imposed by the local authority in Kushtia district began at midnight
on Friday to prevent the spread of Covid-19, which is believed to be an Indian or
Delta strain of the virus.
The lockdown began at 12 am and
will last until midnight on June 18th.
On Saturday morning, Deputy
Commissioner Md Saidul Islam confirmed the incident.
Vehicles are not permitted to
enter or exit these locations.
