Assistant
Sub-inspector (ASI) Soumen Kumar Roy, the accused in the Kushtia triple murder,
confessed in court today.
In
the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rezaul Karim, he confessed
under Section 164. The court later sentenced him to prison.
Soumen claimed in court that he was Asma's husband. He
married her two years ago and stated that if necessary, he would present the
proof in court. Soumen stated that he intended to take Asma to Khulna, but she
refused.
Soumen assumed Asma was dating one of the other victims,
Shakil Khan. On the day of the incident, he repeatedly questioned Asma's
relationship with Shakil. When Asma remained silent on the matter, he pulled
out a handgun and fired.
He also admitted to leaving his workplace without permission.
He also acknowledged to bringing a service handgun and bullets with him.
Mejbar Rahman, Shakil's father, and Hasina Khatun, Asma's
mother, filed two separate cases against Soumen at Kushtia Model Police Station
Friday night.
Earlier, Soumen killed Asma Khatun, her seven-year-old son
Robin, and Shakil Hossain in the city's Customs Junction area on yesterday. The
ASI was apprehended by locals and handed over to the police.
