Police Drop Ex-VP Nur's Name in A Case Filed over DU Student Rape

Police submitted a charge sheet accusing Nazmul Hasan Sohag, a former joint convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, in a rape case filed by a Dhaka University female student in September.

Police investigators dropped four others — former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union vice-president Nurul Haque Nur and his followers Md Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and DU student Abdulla Hil Baki — from the charge sheet.

Hasan Al Mamun, expelled convener of Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, was prosecuted separately under the Digital Security Act on charge of sharing the personal information of the victim.

On September 21, 2020, a female student of Dhaka University filed a case against six persons including VP Nur with Kotwali Police Station on charge of rape and complicity in rape.
