Drugs Case Filed against Nasir-Omie

Police have filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act against businessmen Nasir Uddin Mahmud and Tuhin Siddiqui Omie, arrested earlier on charges of attempted rape and torture of Dhallywood actress Pori Moni.

Manik Kumar Sikder, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (Gulshan Division), filed the case with the Airport police station at midnight on Monday, reports media.

Police on Monday afternoon arrested five accused, including businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood and his friend Omie, from Nasir's residence in Uttara Sector 12 in a case filed over rape and murder attempts on Pori Moni.

Mashiur Rahman, SI of Airport police said three women were arrested with Nasir and Omie and one thousand pieces of Yaba and four litres of liquor were confiscated from their possession. All of them have been made accused in the narcotics case.

Another case may be filed against Nasir and Omie, he added.

Meanwhile, both Nasir and Omie were expelled from the Dhaka Boat Club after the arrest.

Actress Pori Moni, earlier in the day, filed the case on charges of rape and murder attempts against six people, including businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.

Nasir Uddin, real estate businessman, and his friend Omie are the two named accused in the case, and the other four are unnamed.

Pori Moni filed the case with Savar model police station at 11:30am on Monday, confirmed its Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam.

Police on Sunday recorded Pori Moni's statement against the businessman and his friend.

Rupnagar police went to Pori Moni's house in Banani Sunday midnight to record her statement.

On Sunday, Pori Moni claimed that she managed to escape an attempted rape and plot to kill her. In a shocking revelation to millions of her fans, she said that she was also physically harassed.

Pori took to her verified Facebook page to make the claims and sought the prime minister’s intervention for justice.

Later in the day, she, in a press conference, said Nasir Uddin, former president of Uttara Club Ltd, tried to rape her and also threatened to kill her on Wednesday night at Uttara Boat Club.

Pori Moni further claimed that she could not find any help in the last four days to get justice.

Considered as one of the most successful actresses in Dhallywood in recent years, Pori Moni was featured in the list of Forbes’ 'Asia Pacific's Most Influential Celebrities on Social Media' in 2020.

On the career front, Pori Moni was recently roped in for director Chayanika Chowdhury's first-ever web film 'Ontorale' which was expected to kick off its shooting this month.
