A Dhaka court has placed businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud and Tuhin Siddique Omi on a seven-day remand in a case filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act. Besides, the court also granted remand to Lipi Akhter (18), Sumi Akhter (19) and Nazma Amin Snigdha (24) for three days.
On Tuesday (June 15), Dhaka
Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessy issued the remand order after a hearing.
It is learned that in the
afternoon, the investigating officer of the Airport Police Station applied for
remand of the accused of 10 days for proper investigation of the case. At that
time the lawyers of the accused applied for cancellation of remand. The state,
on the other hand, opposed it. After hearing both sides, the judge ordered the remand.
