Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Dr. Ahmed Kaikaus said a large-scale coronavirus vaccination campaign is expected to resume next July.

"We have allocated Tk 14,000 crore for this vaccine," he said. We don't need anyone's kindness, we just want to buy the vaccines. Hopefully, we will be able to start the vaccination program at the mass level from July.

He was responding to a question from reporters at a press conference at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday (June 18th) on the activities of the 'Ashrayan Prokolpo'.

“We’ve tried all over the world for the vaccine,” Dr. Kaikaus said. From where we got it, got it at a comparatively low price. We are trying heart and soul to get more shots. In addition to contacting different states to buy, we are also trying to produce ourselves.

He further said that the issue of vaccines has become a sellers' market. Nothing can be said in advance. If we say something in advance, many countries would get angry. Vaccine-producing countries are making promises, but not implementing them.

Apart from the Principal Secretary, Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office Tofazzal Hossain Mia, Director (Additional Secretary) of Asrayan-2 Project Mahbub Hossain and Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) Jahedur Rahman were also present at the press conference.

At this time Dr. Kaikaus added that in the second phase, under the Prime Minister's Shelter Project, 53,340 families are being given two shatak of land and semi-detached houses free of cost. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate it on June 20. In the year of Mujib Borsho, in order to implement the directive of the Prime Minister that 'not a single person of Bangladesh will be homeless', activities are underway to provide land and houses to all landless and homeless families in the country.
