On Saturday evening, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia returned home from the Evercare Hospital in Gulshan.

An officer from Khaleda's press wing, Syrul Kabir Khan, informed the press of the development.

Since April 27, Khaleda Zia has been having corona and post-corona treatment at Evercare Hospital.

Khaleda Zia's family had previously applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs for permission to move her abroad for better care.

The application was referred to the Ministry of Justice, which stated that the government does not have the jurisdiction to allow a convicted criminal to go overseas.

Her treatment plan was later adjusted by the medical board, and she steadily improved at Evercare Hospital.

On April 27, Khaleda Zia was brought to Evercare Hospital for a complete medical examination.

When eight people in her Gulshan home were found afflicted with the dangerous virus on April 10, she tested positive for Covid-19.

On April 24, she had a second Covid-19 test, which came back positive. The findings of her blood work and CT scan were also normal.

On February 8, 2018, a Dhaka court found BNP chief Khaleda Zia guilty in the Zia orphanage graft case. Later, she was found guilty in the Zia charitable corruption case. Her conviction was likewise maintained by the HC. She ended up in prison.

Due to an epidemic of the Covid-19 virus, the authorities freed Khaleda on March 25, 2020.

Her release was later extended for six months twice, on August 27 of last year and March 15 of this year.
