The court has banned six people, including three members of parliament, from
leaving the country in the interest of investigating allegations of illegal
acquisition of assets.
The
lower court passed the order on Sunday (June 21st) following an application by the
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC
director and head of the casino investigation team Syed Iqbal Hossain confirmed
the information to media.
The travel-banned
persons are Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for Chittagong-12 (Potia)
and Whip of Jatiya Sangsad, Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Member of Parliament for
Sunamganj-1, Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, Member of Parliament for Bhola-3 and
Sajjadul Islam, Joint Chief of Housing and Public Works Ministry. , Former
additional chief engineer. Abdul Hai and Dhaka Wanderers Club employee Abul
Kalam Azad.
Earlier, in a letter sent to the Special Branch (SB) Immigration of the Police on October 23, 2019, the ACC had requested a ban on foreign travel against 22 people, including these six.
