AL's Nuruddin Chowdhury Wins Papul's Vacant Seat

Awami League candidate Nuruddin Chowdhury won the by-elections in Laxmipur-2, the constituency previously held by Mohammad Shahid Islam Papul.

The polling began at 8:00 am and ended 4:00 pm on Monday.

Nuruddin bagged 1,22,557 votes, while his following  rival, Jatiya Party candidate Sheikh Mohammad Fayez Ullah, secured 1,868 votes, according to Returning Officer Dulal Talukdar.

The seat fell vacant on February 22, when Papul was convicted in a human trafficking case in Kuwait and sentenced to four-years in prison by a Kuwait court.
