Mother, Son Electrocuted in Satkhira

A woman and his son died after being electrocuted in Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira on Monday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Mariyam Khatun, 68, and her son Rokonujjaman Rikon, 50, hailing from Bareya village at Tarali union in the Upazila, reports media.

Locals said that Mariyam came in contact with a live electric wire when she was drying clothes beside her house in the area. At one stage, her elder son Selim and younger son Rokon came to save her and they also came in contact with the live electric wire, leaving Mariyam and her youger son Rikon dead on the spot and her elder son injured.

Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station, confirmed the matter to media.
