The court has ordered the
Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar to seize all the
movable and immovable properties of dismissed OC Pradeep and his wife Chumki,
accused in the murder case of retired Major Sinha.
The order was passed by Chattogram
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman on Tuesday (June 29)
morning. The court directed the to seize all the movable and immovable property
of dismissed OC Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife in Chattogram and keep it under
the control of the Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram and the Deputy
Commissioner of Cox's Bazar. The court issued the order in a case of OC
Pradeep's illegal acquisition of assets filed by the ACC.
According to the case
statement, Pradeep Kumar Das built a six-storey house in Patharghata area of Kotwali police station in the name of his
father-in-law to hide the money earned through 'bribery and corruption'. Later,
Pradeep Das's father-in-law donated the house to his wife Chumki Karan.
Although the deed is a deed, the house was acquired by Pradeep Das and his wife
Chumki Karan.
The ACC also mentioned in
the case that the commission business of the accused Chumki Karan and the
income of the fish business in five ponds leased in Boalkhali Upazila for 10
years have been shown in the income tax return as fake business for the purpose
of transferring, converting and transferring the illegal money of husband
Pradeep Das.
August 23 last year, the
ACC integrated district office, Chattogram-2 Assistant Director Md Riaz Uddin
filed the case alleging that OC Pradeep had acquired illegal assets. Along with
OC Pradeep, his wife Chumki Karan has also been accused in the case.
