The Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (CAAB) has
backtracked on its decision to suspend flights on domestic routes amid strict
restrictions. They have decided to resume domestic flights.
The decision was made on Thursday (July 1) in
a directive issued by AKM Faizul Haque, director (air transportation) of CAAB's
Flight Standards and Regulations.
It said that from now on, airlines will be able to
operate flights according to their schedule if they want. Passengers of
international flights coming and going from abroad will be able to travel on
domestic routes only.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines and
NovoAir will only be able to carry foreign passengers on domestic routes.
Whether the passengers have come from abroad or
will go abroad; To be sure, concerned authorities will check his/her
international flight ticket. After checking that, the passengers will get
boarding pass for domestic flight.
The directive also states that flights must be
operated in compliance with government-suggested hygiene regulations.
Earlier, in a notification on Wednesday, CAAB had
announced that flights on domestic routes would be suspended till July 7 amid weeklong
strict restrictions.
