The biopic film 'Bangabandhu' about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be released this year, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud.
He was speaking
during the process of passing the 'Bangladesh Film Artists' Welfare Trust
Bill-2021' in Parliament on Saturday (July 3).

in the process of passing the bill in Parliament.

Firoz Rashid, while commenting on his verification proposal, mentioned the
names of several international movies including Mughal-e-Azam and raised the question
as to why no movie has been made about the architect of independence
Bangabandhu in 50 years.
In reply, the
Information Minister said that Bangladeshi artists are playing all the main
characters in this film. Bangladeshi artists are playing all the main
characters including Bangabandhu, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib,
Jannetri Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana. Although it is a co-produced film. The
film will be released this year. It will be a milestone film.
Though the film
was supposed to start shooting in Bangladesh in March 2019, it was postponed
due to Coronavirus.
Bangabandhu's
house No. 32 in Dhanmondi and Tungipara village have been set in several areas
including Dadasaheb Film City and Gonregaon Film City in Mumbai.
It is learned
that Shyam Benegal is the director of the film, which will be produced jointly
by Bangladesh and India.
Earlier in the
day, Minister Hasan Mahmud said a film was being made in Hollywood about
Bangabandhu. Its work is going on. Work has also been done in Bangladesh.
