Eid holidays of all factory workers including garments made
as per government rules is three days. State Minister for Labor and Employment
Begum Monnujan Sufian said the factory workers would have to pay their salaries
and bonuses by next Monday (July 19).
She was speaking at the 10th meeting of the RMG Advisory
Council on Tuesday (July 13) at 3:30 pm in the conference room of the capital's
Shram Bhaban.
She said the Eid holidays will last for three days. In this
case, the factory owners can give more days off if they wish. It is a matter of
owners and workers. However, the workers have to be paid their salaries and
bonuses by July 19, the day before the Eid holiday. Failure to pay salary-bonus
will resort to law.
State Minister Begum Mannujan Sufian presided over the
meeting while Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation President Shahjahan
Khan, BGMEA Senior Vice President Nasir Uddin and Director Harun Ur Rashid,
BKMEA First Vice President Sirajul Islam Roni were present.
Begum Munnujan Sufian said that earlier the ministry had
collected the salary-bonus of the workers on its own initiative. Salary has
already started to be paid. Most of the factories have paid the workers. There
are some factories left. They are preparing to give salary-bonus at the same
time. All factories have to pay workers' bonus before the holidays.
