Increased Public Movement on First Weekday after Eid

The movement of rickshaws and private vehicles has increased on the roads of the capital on the third day of the 'strictest' lockdown imposed after Eid-ul-Azha to prevent coronavirus (Cavid-19) infection.

The number of people who went out on Sunday (July 25) morning was higher than in the previous two days.

Fruits and vegetables were seen being sold in vans and the movement of the people have increased especially in the streets.

Meanwhile, due to the lack of public transport, many people are rushing to their destinations in rickshaws at double the fare. Disputes have been seen between passengers and rickshaw-pullers over fares at various corners.

On the first day of the weekly working day, rickshaws and private vehicles were seen plying on the roads of different areas of the capital. Law enforcement is patrolling the roads of the capital to enforce the restrictions.

The activities of the mobile court of Dhaka district administration are also continuing. At that time, rickshaws and private vehicles were seen held at various checkpoints.

In addition to the police, members of the army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) are active in enforcing the lockdown in the capital.

The government imposed strict lockdown from July 1 to 7 to reduce coronavirus infections. Later it was extended till July 14. Due to Eid-ul-Azha, strict restrictions were relaxed from 15 to 22 July. From July 23 to August 5, the government reimposed the lockdown again.
