Govt Not Allowing to Open RMG Units For Now

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said no decision has been taken to open garment factories at the moment, adding that legal action would be taken against them if they keep factories open amid lockdown.

He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters after a meeting of the virtual cabinet at the secretariat on Monday (July 26th).

Mentioning that there are many factories in operation at present, the state minister said, "If anyone is open, we are monitoring who opened the factories." If evidence is found, legal action will be taken against them.

While Asked about the owners are demanding to open the garments, if there was any discussion on the issue, the state minister said, "The government has no such thought for now."

The state minister further said there is no alternative to strict lockdown at present. The issue of how Coronavirus has spread has been discussed in the cabinet today.
