Former finance minister AMA Muhith has become weak due to a loss of appetite and recent weight loss while receiving treatment for Covid-19 at the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told the media today that he is now under doctor's supervision because his latest CT scan findings revealed that he has not yet passed the crucial stage.

"We admitted him to the CMH on 29 July following the prime minister's directions because everyone in his family tested positive for the dangerous virus," Momen added.

The veteran's vaccination with double doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to the ministry, is a source of relief.

He further mentioned that after complaining about the lack of books and newspapers at the hospital, the former minister is now receiving them on a regular basis.

Momen praised his brother as a "national asset" and begged everyone to pray for his rapid recovery.

On Sunday, the 87-year-old former finance minister was found to be positive for Covid-19.
