Bangladesh Receives 1.7Mn Sinopharm Shots

Bangladesh received another 1.7 million doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine from China on Tuesday as part of the Covax facility, as the government works to accelerate the countrywide vaccination campaign.

This is the first of three consignments expected to arrive from China this week.

At 7:15 pm, officials from the Ministry of Health received the shipment at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to Shahriar Sazzad, chief of the airport's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) section.

He said that the following consignment, including the same amount of Sinopharm vaccine, is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

According to the official, the third consignment of Sinopharm vaccine would arrive on Thursday.
