The Bangladesh Financial
Intelligence Unit (BFIU) sought bank statements of 8 persons, including Dhallywood
actress Pori Moni and suspended Awami League leader Helena Jahangir on
Wednesday.
Pori Moni was arrested by
the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on 4 August, along with illicit drugs and
liquors, during a raid in the Banani area.
Meanwhile, the RAB arrested
Helena Jahangir from her Gulshan apartment on 29 July.
Banks have been asked to
send all the information including the transaction of their account within
three working days of receiving the letter.
It is learned that many
banks received the letter on Wednesday from the Bangladesh Financial
Intelligence Unit (BFIU), which is controlled by the central bank.
Among the eight people
whose bank account details have been sought are arrested models Faria Mahbub Piyasa
and Moriom Akhter Mou and producer Nazrul Islam.
In the same letter,
information of three more people has been sought. They are Rozina Akhter, whose
address is mentioned as Saleh Chowdhury alias Carlos and Mishu Hasan, two sons
of Neyamat Ullah of Banaripara in Barisal and Mohammadpur in Dhaka.
It is learned that BFIU has
requested the bank account information of these persons as per the request of
an intelligence agency. In this case, it has been asked to send all the
information including the account opening form, transaction details from the
beginning, any kind of savings or loan account. If any inconsistency is found
in the review of this information, the law enforcement will take further
action. It is learned that more information will be sought soon.
