Covid-19: Daily Deaths Drop Below 200 after 19 Days

Bangladesh on Friday reported 197 new coronavirus-related deaths over the last 24 hours till 8:00am.

The country logged less than 200 daily deaths 19 days ago when health authorities reported 195 deaths on July 24, reports media.

Meanwhile, health authorities also reported 8,465 cases from the deadly virus during the same period.

The country's overall caseload now stands at 14,05,333 and total fatalities at 23,810, according to a daily press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, the positivity rate dropped to 20.83 per cent from Thursday's 22.46 per cent.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 40,641 samples at 708 laboratories across the country. The country has so far tested 83,42,190 samples.

Besides, 11,457 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours raising the overall recovery to 12,73,522.

Among the fresh fatalities, 108 were males and 89 were females.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
