A tripartite agreement has
been signed between Sinopharm, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and
Incepta Pharmaceuticals for the production of Chinese Sinopharm vaccine in the
country.
The agreement was signed at
the auditorium of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in the capital's
Mohakhali on Monday (August 16) afternoon.
The agreement was signed by
Health Minister Zahid Malek, Chinese Ambassador Li Jiming and Abdul Muktadir,
Chairman of Incepta Vaccine Limited and Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited.
Health Minister Zahid Malek
was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Mamen
was present as the guest of honor. Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Mamen, Chinese
Ambassador Li Jiming, Director General of the Department of Drug Administration
Major General Md Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman of Incepta Vaccine Limited and
Chairman of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited Abdul Muktadir were present as
special guests on the occasion.
Prof. Dr Abul Bashar
Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director General, Department of Health, gave a welcome
address at the function presided over by Lokman Hassan Miah, Senior Secretary,
Department of Health, Ministry of Health.
The speakers hoped that the
agreement would enable Incepta to produce vaccines faster.
Speakers at the event also
said that a new direction was unveiled in the production of covid vaccine in
Bangladesh in August, the month of mourning.
