State Minister for Civil Aviation and
Tourism Md Mahbub Ali has said that the ministry will take steps to ensure
better treatment of pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Captain Nawshad Ataul
Kaiyum.
The state minister said this while
talking to President of Bangladesh Airlines Pilot Association Captain Mahbubur
Rahman over telephone on Saturday (August 28).
It is learnt that on August 27 morning,
a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Oman made an emergency landing at Dr
Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in the Indian city of Nagpur in
Maharashtra on its way to Dhaka carrying 124 passengers.
The pilot felt sick while the flight
was crossing the Indian airspace in Roypur and as soon as it contacted the
nearby air traffic control which advised the Boeing 737-800 aircraft to land in
Nagpur.
None was hurt in the incident while
the flight BG 022 captain Nawshad Ataul Kaiyum, 45, was rushed to a hospital
after first officer Mustakim landed the flight at the Indian airport.
Later, an eight-member rescue team
went there, and the flight arrived at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka
with 124 passengers.
