Abduction of Mother, Son: 2 Policemen Suspended

Two of the three Rangpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) employees detained in connection with the kidnapping of a woman and her son have been suspended.

On Saturday, additional police super (ASP) Ataur Rahman of the Rangpur CID confirmed the incident (August 28).

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Hasinur Rahman and Constable Ahsanul Haque Faruk are the two officials who have been suspended.

According to ASP Ataur Rahman, the decision to suspend the two cops was made verbally. The Rangpur CID office has yet to receive any written documents.

On August 24, Dinajpur police detained five persons, including three CID officers, near Dashmail crossroads in Dinajpur Sadar upazila, on charges of kidnapping Zahura Begum and her son Jahangir and demanding Tk15 lakh in ransom.
