On Saturday, three Bangladeshi citizens who
had been stranded in war-torn Afghanistan returned home.
They are among six Bangladeshi BRAC
employees who were due to return but were stranded due to the suspension of
commercial flights from Kabul, according to the NGO.
They left Kabul on August 22 and returned on
Saturday via Kazakhstan.
The Turkish Airlines flight, which brought
them, landed Dhaka around 5am, it added.
Around 3,000 staffers work across 10
provinces in Afghanistan. Of the 14 expatriate staffers working in Afghanistan,
12 were Bangladeshis, according to the BRAC statement.
As of Saturday, nine Bangladeshis have
returned while another three are still stranded but safe in Kabul, it said
before adding that efforts were underway to evacuate them as soon as possible.
