'Bangladesh Closely Monitoring The Situation in Afghanistan'

The government is in regular contact with Bangladeshi nationals stranded in Afghanistan, the foreign ministry said. Bangladesh is hoping that the situation in Afghanistan will return to normal soon and peace will return there.

This information was given in a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (August 29). Initiatives have been taken to bring them back to the country safely, the notification said.

"Bangladesh is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan," the statement said. Bangladesh extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the August 26 bombing near Kabul Airport. At the same time, we wish the injured a speedy recovery. Bangladesh called upon all concerned to ensure the safety of the people of Afghanistan as well as the foreign nationals residing in that country."

‘So far, the Bangladesh government has completed the process of bringing back about 20 Bangladeshis stranded there. Bangladesh is grateful to all concerned for facilitating the safe departure of all foreign nationals, including Bangladeshi nationals,” the statement added.

It further said that Bangladesh wants to continue the process of repatriation of the remaining foreign nationals. We hope that the development workers can return to Afghanistan if a conducive environment is created. Bangladesh called upon all parties concerned to maintain maximum restraint at this time.
