The High Court (HC)
granted Japanese citizen Nakano Erico and Bangladeshi-American Sharif Imran
permission to stay with their two children in a rented house in the capital's Gulshan
for 15 days on Tuesday.
Commissioner
Mohammad Shafiqul Islam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) would be in
charge of their safety. The matter will be supervised by the Department of
Social Services' Deputy Director.
The order was
issued on Tuesday by a virtual bench consisting of Justice Enayetur Rahim and
Justice Mostafizur Rahman. The meeting was called in response to a petition
from a Bengali father and a Japanese mother, who requested that the two
children be kept in a better hotel rather than a Victim Support Center.
On July 11, 2008, Japanese doctor Nakano Erico, 48, and Bangladeshi-American Sharif Imran, 58, married according to Japanese law. In their 12 years of marriage, they moved to Tokyo and had three kids.
